Google Voice Review

This Google Voice review offers an unbiased review of the Google Voice program. Learn how Google Voice compares to other Google products such as Google Talk and Google Chat.

In our Google Voice Review, we found that this Google technology using Voice over IP communication is a great way to save money on placing and receiving phone calls. Aside from international calls, Google Voice is free as long as you have an Internet connection.

Costs with main stream mobile communication providers are continuing to rise in terms of data, multimedia, voice packages and text packages. Google Voice, however, provides a solution to that financial problem. Google Voice used VoIP technology to help users communicate using the Internet to transmit the calls or voice and video chats. Google Voice, part of Google Talk services, focuses more on phone calls from any landline or mobile phone number in your Gmail account.

How to Use Google Voice:

Using Google Voice is a great way to talk to your family, friends and coworkers without having to spend a bundle on an expensive cell phone plan. You can use Google Voice through your own cell phone as long as you have Internet access and simply click the call phone link at the top of your Google Chat roster in Gmail to open up the Call window. Remember, to make this happen successfully you have to be actually signed in to chat and have the voice and video chat plug-in installed.  This is the same plug-in that must be installed when using Google Video and Voice chat from computer to computer. From the call window, you can then dial a phone number and engage in a call that way, or you can view call history or add credit to your account in order to place international calls. If you are a Google Voice user, you can also enable Google Chat as a forwarding phone to be able to receive calls in Gmail.

Benefits of Using Google Voice:

As previously mentioned, Google Voice is a free service in the United States. The only stipulation is that you must have a Google Account as well as Internet access in order for it to work. However, as most smart phones now have Internet phone capabilities and most cities have 3G access or higher, it is not difficult to be able to make and receive calls without having to worry about them dropping or losing the call. Other benefits of Google Voice include the ease of use. It is easy to install and use and a great way to save money on VoIP technology. Many businesses are now looking into using Google Voice as a way to communicate especially trying out the Google Voice and Video technology that creates an ease of use for office staff meetings as well as board meetings with others in remote offices and locations. Because this service is free, there is no concern about paying an upfront cost, and can greatly save you money because you will be able to purchase a smaller voice plan with your current mobile phone carrier.

Cons of Using Google Voice:

While this is a mostly free service, aside from international calls, users may not always be able to rely on the communication to work. Users have also reported having issues with Google Voice voicemail messages. However, these are bugs that can be worked through, and it can’t hurt to try Google Voice as long as you still have a voice package with your cell phone provider in case something goes wrong with Google Voice or the call does not go through correctly.

Overall in our Google Voice review, we found tons of benefits and little risk into trying out Google Voice for your own personal or business communication needs. Don’t hesitate to give Google Voice and other Google Talk communication services like Google Chat, Video Chat and voice a try because they are free to use within the United States and can easily be done as long as you have a reliable Internet connection, mobile phone or computer.
